Berger Offers Enhanced MRI Services

(Circleville, Ohio) -  Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams – non-invasive imaging exams of soft tissue, bone and muscle – have become one of the fastest growing medical diagnostic tests in the United States. With Berger Health System’s recent installation of a new MRI System from Siemens Healthcare, patients can now experience faster, more comfortable exams.

The addition of this new MRI scanner to Berger’s radiology suite expands access to diagnostic imaging that supports a complete range of clinical applications.

“We are thrilled to provide our patients with state-of-the-art MRI technologies that will make their experience more comfortable while providing physicians with premium results,” said Dr. Jill Barno, chief medical officer at Berger Health System. “In addition, we have redesigned the MRI suite to help alleviate feelings of claustrophobia by adding natural light,” said Rachel VanFossen, imaging services manager at Berger Health System.

The new MRI System offers doctors an array of diagnostic possibilities and provides patients with a more relaxed experience. Like all MRIs, this new system uses magnets that are measured in Tesla (T) to acquire images. At 1.5T, Berger’s new MRI offers superb image quality that may be used for a wide range of medical needs including neurology, orthopedics, body imaging, angiography and oncology. It can help physicians make quicker, more accurate diagnoses.

The new MRI boasts a 70 cm open bore (the structure of an MRI where the patient lies during the imaging process) and can provide access for patients up to 550 pounds. Additionally, the MRI’s ultra-short bore helps alleviate concerns of claustrophobia since many exams can be performed with the patient’s head outside of the bore.

The system is equipped with the latest technologies allowing for faster results and more comfortable exams for patients. The shorter exam times means the patient spends less time in the magnet.

“Berger Health System understands the importance of having state-of-the-art imaging services to meet the needs of our customers.  We also understand that consumers are paying more out of pocket than ever before, so we have competitively priced many of our MRI procedures,” said Tim Colburn, President and CEO of Berger Health System.
